Presenter: Della Rodrigues, Math Teacher at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, VA.

  • edWeb EL Webinar: Silence Isn’t Golden: Speaking and English Learners (1hr) Are you daunted by the prospect of teaching English alongside a content subject like science, math, or reading? That is a natural response to the fact that in our schools today, 85 percent of English Learners (EL) were born in the United States. Yet of those students, 25 to 50 percent go on to become long-term ELs. Learning English is now a question of equity, as well as academics. In this edWebinar, Maya Goodall, Senior Director of ELL Curriculum at Lexia Learning; and Lisa Frumkes, Senior Director and Head of Content Development at Rosetta Stone, offer practical solutions to this challenge, focusing on encouraging and supporting students to use academic language while simultaneously learning content.
